Position Summary
The Clinical Lead (CL) provides direct clinical oversight, mentorship, and operational leadership for Mobile Wound Care Providers (MD/DO/APRN/PA) and Mobile Wound Care Nurses (LPN) delivering services in home and facility-based settings. This role ensures high-quality, evidence-based wound care delivery; optimal utilization of advanced wound modalities; regulatory compliance; and adherence to Total Wound Care (TWC) policies and clinical standards.
The Clinical Lead maintains a personal patient caseload while supervising team performance, conducting audits, mentoring clinicians, participating in interdisciplinary review, and reporting performance metrics to executive leadership. The CL functions as a clinical leader, operational liaison, and quality champion within assigned geographic markets.

Employment Status: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday through Friday (5) 8-hour shifts (additional availability as operationally required)
Work Location: Mobile (Patient Residences and Residential Facilities)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Direct Patient Care
Maintain a personal caseload, modeling high-quality wound assessment, treatment planning, documentation, and adherence to TWC standards.
Demonstrate clinical excellence and policy adherence, particularly during onboarding and post-orientation provider support.
Provide direct patient care during coverage gaps or increased service demand.
Ensure appropriate transfer of care and discharge planning when patients require services outside TWC scope.
Team Oversight & Supervision
Supervise and support assigned Mobile Wound Care Providers and Mobile Wound Care Nurses.
Conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with assigned team members to review:
Patient status and wound progression
Advanced modality planning
Documentation compliance
Operational challenges
Perform and document monthly or quarterly ride-alongs to observe clinical performance and provide real-time mentorship.
Approve and manage Paid Time Off (PTO) requests in alignment with TWC policies and service coverage needs.
Balance patient assignments, geographic catchment areas, and schedule saturation in collaboration with clinical leadership.
Advanced Modality & Clinical Performance Oversight
Monitor appropriate utilization of advanced wound care treatments, including:
Negative Pressure Wound Therapy
Cellular/Tissue-Based Products (CTPs)
Offloading and compression therapies
Advocate for timely initiation of eligible advanced therapies.
Conduct pre- and post-application reviews for skin grafts/CTPs to ensure compliance with documentation, coding, and payer requirements.
Identify and address roadblocks to wound closure (e.g., supply issues, payer denials, patient non-compliance).
Performance Improvement & Metrics Management
Track and analyze:
Wound closure rates
Infection management outcomes
Hospitalizations
Advanced modality utilization
Documentation timeliness (e.g., 48-hour chart closure standard)
Provide leadership with actionable insights to refine workflows and improve healing metrics.
Collaborate with Director of Quality Assurance to reduce documentation deficiencies and improve compliance.
Staff Education & Professional Development
Mentor Providers and Nurses in:
Advanced wound care modalities
Evidence-based treatment strategies
Documentation standards
LCD compliance and payer requirements
Facilitate skills labs, case conferences, and clinical updates.
Foster a collaborative, growth-oriented team culture.
Participate in ongoing professional development and remain current with emerging wound care guidelines.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
Participate in interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings to review complex wounds and align care strategies.
Communicate effectively with scheduling, referral sources, executive leadership, and facility administrators.
Support internal communication processes to improve workflow efficiency.
Reporting & Executive Communication
Submit detailed weekly reports to the CMO, CNO, and Quality Assurance including:
Advanced modality utilization and pending approvals
Identified operational or clinical roadblocks
Performance metrics and quality concerns
Recommendations for workflow or policy improvements
Provider development observations and feedback
Regulatory & Compliance Oversight
Ensure team compliance with:
TWC clinical protocols
HIPAA regulations
CMS guidelines
State-specific regulations
Payer LCD requirements
Remain current on emerging wound care best practices and regulatory updates.
Serve as a clinical compliance resource for team members.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Clinical Background
Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician Assistant (PA), MD, DO, or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with advanced wound care experience and leadership background.
Active, unrestricted state license.
Advanced wound care certification (e.g., CWSP, CWS, ABWM, WOCN) strongly preferred.
Experience in mobile or home-based wound care preferred.
Leadership & Analytical Skills
Strong ability to interpret clinical data and performance metrics.
Demonstrated ability to identify care gaps and implement corrective action plans.
Proven leadership capability in interdisciplinary environments.
Communication Skills
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
Ability to deliver constructive feedback and coach clinicians effectively.
Professional executive-level reporting ability.
Regulatory & Operational Knowledge
Thorough understanding of HIPAA, CMS, and state regulatory frameworks.
Familiarity with payer guidelines for advanced wound modalities.
Strong understanding of wound documentation compliance standards.
Technical Proficiency
Proficient in EHR systems, reporting tools, and wound tracking platforms.
Comfortable performing and training advanced wound care procedures.
Strong working knowledge of advanced wound technologies.
Experience Requirements
Minimum 3 years of wound care experience.
Minimum 1 year in a leadership, supervisory, or preceptor role preferred.
Demonstrated success in improving clinical performance metrics.
Experience managing interdisciplinary clinical teams.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to bend, kneel, squat, and twist while delivering patient care.
Ability to lift and reposition patients with assistance when necessary.
Ability to transport medical equipment and supplies (approximately 10–25 pounds).
